Positives: Friendliness, knowledge of the river, cleanliness of cabin
Negatives: Suggestion only: Dish soap and hand towel for dishes
We had a party of 10 (ages 11-46) in a cabin for 3 days and had a wonderful time! This was our first family vacation ever! We were extremely impressed as soon as we drove up to our cabin. When we walked in we were even more impressed with how clean and spacious it was. We did bring quite a bit of our own stuff from home, just because we didn't know what to expect when we got there, but will know when we return next year, we wont need as much stuff.
The staff was VERY friendly, helpful and knowledgable of the river and voiced their concerns for safety. Having an 11 year old, this was helpful and very much appreciated. No matter what we asked them to do or help us with, they all did with a smile and "Sure, we can do that"...
I would HIGHLY recommend Andy's to anyone looking for a great time at a reasonable rate! Thanks SO much for a wonderful experience! Camp Mead!

Positives: Great service, cabins, store, merchandise and shuttle service
You won't find a another couple that works harder to give the visitors of Concan a better time. Andy and Emily go above and beyond the call of duty of any merchant to provide the services demanded by the summer crowds. Andys has to work harder because they dont offer "river-front" property and so they do; their store has anything and everything the average visitor may need without going all the way into Uvalde. They provide a shuttle bus, toobs galore, kayaks, camping, cabins and RV spots. And with each aminity offered, thought and care goes into making sure its done right.
All the merchants of Concan work hard to provide an environment worth coming back for. They put up with the noise, the trash, the drinking, the complaints on the flow of the river, all so that you can have a decent vacation in one of the most beautiful spots in Texas.
So the next time your vacation doesnt turn out like you planned....and before you go spouting off negative remarks, stop and think about all the hard work and effort that is put in, not just in the summer, but all year long so that Concan can remain a popular destination of thousands. For every one dissatified visitor, Concan has thousands that understand what it takes to service the masses. and if you really cared about the area, you would come back the week after Labor day and help the friends of the frio clean up all the trash that is left in the river.....your trash!

Positives: Fantastic Cabins; Clean; Family Oriented; Enjoyed the laid back atmosphere!
Andys on River Road was a great place for my family and friends to stay for the weekend. We actually stayed there on New Years weekend this year and it was a blast. The best thing about Andys is the laid back and relaxed atmosphere. Andy, the owner, was a great host and even helped us out on a few items we had forgotten in order for our weekend to be more enjoyable. I can honestly say that the weekend was the best I have had in a long time and it was great to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city / work life most of us have to deal with. Many thanks to Andy and his wife Emily for the great time and rest assure that we will be back soon during the summer months to enjoy the river! Thank you again and I definitely recommend Andys on River Road; you will not be disappointed!

Comments: My wife, daughter and I stayed at one of Andy's cabins for new years and it was a blast. I have stayed there several times camping and above the store but this was my first time in a cabin and definately not my last. I loved the fact we had all utensals and cookware provided, it made packing easy. Not to mention we were able to watch the bowl games with the tv and cable which was a bonus. We enjoyed the fire ring and stars at night, very relaxing. Emily and Andy are very nice people and they went out of their way to make us comfortable. I reccomend Andy's to anyone who is looking for a clean and affordable place to stay. The location was perfect.

My name is Andy Beard and I'm the owner of Andy's on River Road. After years of working to create a business focused on providing customers with a great vacation experience, it was very disheartening to see my first negative review. While I understand that the person who created the negative review did not have the experience we strive to offer, it doesn't seem right that the hundreds and probably thousands of invidividuals who have had a wonderful vacation at Andy's on River Road don't have an equal voice. We have never encouraged our happy customers to write reviews, but now understand that it is necessary to provide a balanced opinion.
I would like to address some of the issues that the unhappy customer listed and offer my appologies as well as solutions to the things that did go wrong.
It was mentioned that there was a hole in one of the interior doors. There was a crack in one of the four doors inside the cabin. It was fixed at the first opportunity, and we have since upgraded all interior doors to solid core doors so they cannot be easily broken.
In 2010 we changed our air filters every 2 weeks. I now know that because the air conditioning units run constantly almost all summer long, it is necessary to change the filters weekly. We are committed to doing that in 2011.
A couple of days before the arrival of the unhappy guest, someone drove over an area where they should not have been driving and broke a septic line. It was unfortunate for the families that were here at the time, but was no where near as problematic as it was made out to be in the review. The line was fixed as soon as the local plumbing company could get there.
We have purchased brand new furniture for all 10 cabins as well as the rooms above the store. Each cabin has new beds, new couch, new love seat, two new recliners, as well as tables and chairs.
Andy's on River Road introduced the first real shuttle bus to Concan in 2010. What an experience! We had terrific results, with the only problem arrising from unprecedented demand. I am happy to announce that we will be running two buses in 2011 and moving people to and from the river faster than ever before.
My employees and I strive to help everyone with anything they need. We've made many friends for life because we go out of our way and bend over backwards to help everyone who may need assitance. Please remember that regardless of where you stay you should always be respectful.

Positives: Texas Hill Country is gorgeous! Frio is gorgeous!
Negatives: Do your tubing in May/June. Avoid the low river.
My family and friends stayed at Andy's on River Road in Concan, TX from Aug. 5 - Aug. 8, 2010. We expressed our disappointment over the following issues with Andy beard, the owner:
-holes apparrently kicked in some of the interior doors
-blood, urine, and "other" bodily fluid stains on the linens
-unwashed, dingy pillow cases
-unclean, stained furniture
-broken shelving in bathroom
-return air vents covered with gross black junk (lint, fuzz, dirt)
-no trash removal service (not even a dumpster)
-septic field overflowing (hadn't rained for weeks) with raw sewage (and it STUNK)
-shuttle bus that is promised to pick up every 20 min. took at least 45 (7 adults & 9 kids ages 2-12 had to wait in 100 degree heat after walking tubes down entire length of too low to tube Frio).
His response was, "well, we've been booked for 100 nights" and went so far to call us "uncouth" for telling him his cabins are "scuzzy" - which they are. When I complained that these basic services should be provided for a cabin that cost $200 a night, he further went on to say, " try to do better." Can you believe it? My advice is to try to do better, you can't do any worse! AVOID THIS FOOL!

Comments: Stayed in our RV for a 3 day weekend. It was the worst Rv park I have ever been to!! We got there at night and there was no lighting! Had to search in the dark for our site number which was very poorly marked. Bathrooms were disgusting, looked like they had never been cleaned. There was no trash pick up, or even a dumpster ( wish I had known beforehand). The sewer was seeping out next to our Rv. The water line broke and had water shooting all over the place. Got stuck in the mud, driving to the bathrooms, there is no drainage! I will never go back there again!

Positives: Location, treated like we were appreciated, and peaceful water. Negatives: Can't think of any Comments: We took a group of foster boys ages 8-12. Most of whom had never been camping or out of the city for that matter. Andy and his crew treated us like we were the Kings of the Earth. He visited with the boys and treated them with respect which they don't get very often. I am taking my family there this summer for vacation and can't wait.
